On Tuesday 1 July 2014, Mr Issa took ten Gifted & Talented Year 10 maths students to Kingston University. During the morning, the students enjoyed several lectures and talks designed to inspire them to take up maths at A-Level.

The first was about how different mathematical equations apply to the viscosity of items, such as diluted flour or custard, whilst the second discussed the different classifications of numbers (for example, natural, irrational and rational) throughout the ages, and the toll this took on some of the discoverers.

Mr Issa commented that the talks were “well-delivered with lots of enthusiasm”. The event appeared to have the desired effect, as many of the students came back to school enlivened by the possibility of studying the subject into further education.
