After a summer term ruined by the weather the U15 cricket team had to wait until the start of the autumn term to complete their County Cup campaign. They did so triumphing in the final with a well-deserved win over Enfield Grammar School under the guidance of Mr MacLean.

Isleworth & Syon batted first and posted an impressive 210 runs for the loss of just 4 wickets in the 30 allotted overs. A run-rate of seven per over was always going to be a challenge for the Enfield boys. Daanyaal Khan was the star-turn with an innings of 132 not out. Daanyaal’s near faultless innings later earned him a new cricket bat from Mr Ferguson. Usman Shafeeq contributed 44 runs as the pair managed a second wicket partnership of 144 before Usman was caught at mid-on.

Enfield could never match the Isleworth boys and they were never really in with a chance of victory. Good fielding and some tight bowling from the team restricted Enfield to 110 runs. With six maidens bowled by the Isleworth boys the Enfield side never managed to keep up with the required run-rate.

Most notable of the bowlers was Rashid Ali who got took 3 wickets for 18 runs and he also took an impressive one-handed catch well above and behind his head. Zeeja Rizvi also put in a solid bowling performance with 2 wickets for 23 runs.

Congratulations to the Isleworth & Syon team on victory by 99 runs.

Team: Hasnat Alam, Rashid Ali, Saad Arshad, Harry Cushen, Tim Gittins, Aamir Hussain, Nathan Khalla, Daanyaal Khan, Milun Patel, Harry Ratcliffe, Zeeja Rizvi, Usman Shafeeq (Captain).
