Despite the huge changes taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic, what has remained constant is our commitment to learning. This involves making sure that our students get the best opportunities. Therefore, we hosted our first-ever virtual careers talk last month, as part of our CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance) programme.

14 students in Years 9-11 took part in the talk from the comfort of their own homes. The talk lasted two hours and featured employees from one of our careers partners – the local construction company, EcoWorld. Seven employees talked about their role, including an Accountant, Quantity Surveyor, Communications and Social Media Manager, and Development Director.

Each person spoke about their career journey to date as well as the key skills needed within their role. Students were then able to submit questions, and it was great to see the boys posing some very engaging queries. They learned about how large international companies can be as well as the vast sums of money used to develop Brentford F.C.’s new stadium.

Afterwards, Parees Singh (9Ad) said, “The talk was really informative. It helped me understand the construction industry more and let me understand the importance of the different careers in the industry.”

In school, we have a dedicated Careers Leader who is constantly seeking new opportunities for students of all years. We want to develop student awareness of potential careers and broaden their understanding of the wider workplace. If you have the ability to facilitate an opportunity, please contact the school, for the attention of the Careers Leader.
