Year 13 Applied Science Visit Hunterian Museum

Hunterian

One of our popular Sixth Form vocational courses is applied science, led by our superb science team. As part of their unit 8 coursework, the Year 13 cohort studies human anatomy and pathology - specifically three human body systems (musculoskeletal, lymphatic and digestive), how they function and what occurs during dysfunction. To help them with their coursework project, the science team organised an educational visit to the Hunterian Museum in London, where students could see real-life specimens.

The museum has an extensive collection of preserved anatomical and pathological specimens that are used for medical education by the Royal College of Surgeons. This trip, therefore, was very useful as students could observe a huge range of specimens directly related to their in-class topics, taking photographs that could then be incorporated into their coursework as supporting evidence. Students had a brilliant time at the museum and were a credit to the school. The trip was a great example of how we work hard to bring student learning into the real world.
