A key part of our careers programme is Work Experience for Year 10 students – it helps to raise academic standards and support our students in making the best choices for their futures. It also gives students the opportunity to gain greater understanding of the workplace and develop their employability skills.

Since the Covid pandemic, it has been much harder for students to source work placements. We were therefore delighted that the majority of Year 10 students achieved a placement, with nearly 100 employers involved in the programme across 40 industries!. Students took part in a five-day placement with employers like the Home Office, Flat Iron, Nationwide, Octopus Energy, the Old Vic Theatre, and several local primary schools. Employer feedback was very positive, with students being praised for their work ethic and professionalism throughout their placements. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to get hands-on experience in the world of work and develop transferable skills so valuable to employers.
