Vocational Sport - High Ropes

High Ropes

By Mr Adams

As part of their Cambridge National Sport Studies course, Year 11 students need to show evidence of outdoor activity. Therefore, they visited the Gripped High Ropes course at Hobbledown Heath for an afternoon of adventurous activity. For all, it was a completely new challenge. The group began on the low‑level elements, practising key skills such as using their "Zazas" and "Zippys" as well as developing their confidence in their harnesses. Once confidence grew, students progressed to the high‑level course, tackling steep ladder climbs, and a multitude of obstacles to test their balance and problem solving before navigating platforms and thrilling zip wires — all safely harnessed in. Throughout the session, students recorded evidence of the required skills while supporting each other and overcoming personal challenges. It was a fun, rewarding and memorable afternoon that pushed everyone to try something new.
