Natural History Museum
We take every opportunity we can to encourage “hands-on learning” – students taking their studies beyond the classroom and textbooks and into the wider world. February saw a great example, with Year 12 biologists heading to London’s Natural History Museum for a special trip. Curriculum Leader Ms Stead had designed a bespoke resource to link exhibits in the museum to elements of students ‘Classification and Species Diversity’ specification, meaning that students could put their learning into practice. During this 90-minute visit, they also saw an exhibit about the evolution of humans, meaning they could actually see things that they had studied in class. It was a brilliant trip, with students full of excitement afterwards.
