Freddie Summerhayes - International Gymnast

We were delighted to receive notice that Year 11's Freddie Summerhayes won the English Acrobatics Championship. Freddie competes with a partner in the IDP1 mixed pair category and performed superbly on his way to a gold medal. He has also competed recently on the international stage, travelling to Porto, Portugal to compete in the Maia International Acro Cup. He and his partner finished in third place against gymnasts from all over the world, qualifying them for the next stage. He hopes, in the future, to represent Great Britain at the Acrobatic Gymnastics European and World Championships.

Freddie competes for Sportac Gymnastics in Feltham, putting in the hard graft for almost 20 hours a week in the evenings and weekends. It is truly impressive how he juggles his school commitments with the drive towards elite sport. Freddie is not the only student at I&S who performs at county, regional and international level. We are proud of our students on elite pathways and do everything we can to support them. If your child is involved in elite physical activities, please complete contact the school so that we can support. We would also be grateful if you could keep us up to date with achievements and success stories so that we can showcase these students who go above and beyond. These young people are a great example of one of the values that make an Isleworthian: "practice makes permanent". We hope that Freddie is an inspiration to students lower in the school.
