Duke of Edinburgh's Silver Award 2026 - Practice Expedition

DofE Silver Practice 2026

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme remains one of our most popular enrichment activities. Indeed, we are proud to be one of only a few local schools running all three levels – Bronze (Year 9), Silver (Year 10) and Gold (Year 12).

We had 30 students sign up for the Silver Award this year, the highest in a number of years! Students have been working hard each week in their after-school training to prepare for their Expeditions. The practice took place in the Chiltern Hills over three days and two nights - you can see the full photograph gallery above. As always with these expeditions, it was not easy, but we were really proud of students for their increased resilience throughout the middle day to cope with the additional walking required. The Silver Award is a big step up from their Bronze but students' confidence has significantly grown in both map reading and meal planning. It was especially lovely to see the high levels of teamwork on display, as well as the support and camaraderie between the groups as they celebrated each other's successes. These values of compassion and kindness are key amongst Isleworthians, so well done to the boys.

As the group now wait for their practice expedition in October, attention turns to the other three sections of the Award - Service, Skills and Physical Recreation. Students will absolutely reap the benefits of their hard work and commitment to this programme.
