The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme remains one of our most popular enrichment activities. Indeed, we are proud to be one of only a few local schools running all three levels – Bronze (Year 9), Silver (Year 10) and Gold (Year 12). The latter group, made up of 20 Year 12 students, have spent the last week of term in the Lake District on their practice expedition.

The four-day venture included some serious walking around the District, the opportunity to develop campcraft and even the chance for a wild camp, all of course whilst coping with the changing weather - including heavy gusts over the tops while also dealing with warm temperatures during the day. Students performed brilliantly and have returned more prepared for their assessed expedition in the autumn.
