Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award 2026 - Practice Expedition

DofE Bronze Practice 2026

Isleworth & Syon is proud to be one of only a handful of local schools to run all three levels of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – Bronze (Year 9), Silver (Year 10) and Gold (Year 12). We know that the award is a fantastic enrichment experience for so many students, allowing them to develop many ‘soft’ skills like independent and teamwork.

In 2025-26, the Bronze award has been very popular once again, with 45 students involved. To complete the Award, students must take part in four sections – Service, Skills, Physical Recreation, and Expeditions. They headed off to the Surrey Hills for their practice expedition last week. The two-night camping and orienteering experience was a great way for students to test their training and learning in the real world! Students worked really well together, showing good camaraderie throughout. The weather was excellent - which of course created its own challenges! - and they had to really consider their campcraft and navigation skills throughout. Students are well set for their final assessed expedition during Wider Learning Week in July. Well done boys for your hard work and resilience throughout!
