Drama Workshop - Paper Birds Theatre Company

As part of the A level drama and theatre course, students create a "devised" piece of drama based on the work of a theatre practitioner. Devised means that it is an original creation rather than an adaptation of an existing script. This year's Year 12 group have been studying the Paper Birds theatre company, so we were thrilled to take part in a two-hour online consultation with Kylie Perry, one of the group's founding members.

The conversation took place over Zoom during lesson time and was a unique "bespoke consultancy" session. This meant that it was an interactive conversation, with Kylie asking students about their piece and then helping them to rework it there and then. Kylie had several suggestions to help students ensure that their creation best fits Paper Birds' dramatic style, and she was very generous with her time. Students were very impressed by this brilliant workshop, which helped clarify their direction of travel. We wish students luck with their final assessment taking place at the end of May.
