Day Trip to Boulogne, France
Boulogne 2026
46 students across Years 7-10 took the opportunity for a very special languages trip – visiting the beautiful French coastal town of Boulogne for the day! This was a brilliant way for students to practise their language skills ‘in real life’ as well as immersing themselves in French culture. For several of these students, it was their first time abroad.
The day began with a very early start, meeting at school at 4.45am! However, there was no sleepiness in the air as students were excited to get the coach to Dover and then a ferry over to Calais. Despite some unfortunate travel delays beyond control, the boys displayed great resilience as they waited to actually get to France. Once they did, students loved the trip to the snail farm – including the brave ones who tried the French delicacy! They had a great visit to Nausicaa as well, one of the biggest aquariums in Europe. Finally, there was time for a sun-bathed stroll around the Old Town, including a spot of shopping and some well-earned refreshments. With sadness, students headed for home - and unfortunately another slight delay! After a long coach ride and ferry, the group finally arrived back to school after midnight. It was a busy day but a very successful one for these students, who were left with memories that will last a lifetime. C’est magnifique!
