Alumni - Tinashe Zhuwawu Apprenticeships Talk

As part of National Apprenticeships Week, we were thrilled to welcome former student Tinashe Zhuwawu back into school to discuss his journey with current Year 10s. After finishing his seven-year I&S journey in July 2024, Tinashe began a degree apprenticeship with Amey PLC, an engineering company.

Tinashe spoke passionately about his career as a Civil Engineer, giving our students an honest and powerful insight into the world of apprenticeships. He highlighted not only the many benefits - earning while learning, hands‑on experience, and real industry exposure - but also some of the challenges he has faced along the way.

He also brought his role brilliantly to life by using the rail infrastructure close to the school as a real-world example, helping students clearly see how civil engineering decisions shape the environment around them.

His authenticity, enthusiasm, and commitment to his profession were genuinely inspiring. It is fantastic for current Isleworthians to see an alumnus thriving in a career he truly enjoys. Thank you to Tinashe for giving his time, energy and wisdom. He made a real impact!
