Dear Parent/Carer,
Year 10 Work Experience – Support with Placements
Monday 6 – Friday 10 July 2026
I write to ask all parents/carers of students in Year 10 to help with identifying five days of appropriate work experience placements for this Summer Term (6-10 July). The current economic climate has meant that opportunities for our students have proved few and far between. This is a genuine call for help and support.
Why is Work Experience Important?
Work experience for our students is vitally important because a number of things happen. First, students enjoy the work placement and, as a result, become more focused in their academic studies when they return to school. Second, students dislike their placement, so much so that they work harder at school in order to end up in that type of job. Third, and finally, employers gain a valuable insight into young people – their views, interests and values; currently, young people are a social group who are so misrepresented on television and on social media. Some employers even use the young people as a focus group for their own product/service.
From a school perspective, it is a win-win situation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Isn’t there a lot of bureaucracy and paperwork to offer work placements?
No – the only paperwork is the electronic form (below) which is simple and easy as well as an employer form that confirms the placement and their insurance cover.
Where can I find out more information?
Please access UNIFROG and/or contact Mr Da Silva, our Work Experience Coordinator: workexperience@isleworthsyon.org.
Offering a Placement
Some parents/carers may be self-employed or already work in establishments which accept schoolwork placements. If this is the case, or you can offer one or more place, then I would greatly appreciate if you could complete this form and return it to the email address above.
