Wider Learning Week 2026
Year 7 Day-by-Day Itinerary
Wider Learning Week (WLW) will run from Monday 6 – Friday 10 July 2026. It is an annual activity week allowing students to participate in enriching learning experiences in familiar and new contexts. Students will work in house groups throughout the week and complete a new activity each day. The activities designed will challenge students, promote wider understanding, and develop independence.
Please see below the timetable and key points for what is sure to be an exciting and engaging week.
Key Points
- Full school uniform should be worn, and equipment brought as normal.
- Canteen will be open as normal for on-site students.
- Students will need to wear their PE kit to school on Medieval Sports and Citizenship Day.
- Students will need to wear their Games kit on the Shackleton House Trip.

Description |

Medieval Sports |
Students will be able to learn about life during Medieval times, creating their own coat of arms. They will also learn about and compete in a series of Medieval sports. |

House Trips* |
Each House will go a trip to learn about their house’s namesake.

Play in a Day |
Students will create a performance. |
|
Citizenship Day |
Students will spend the day on a carousel of activities facilitated by the police and air ambulance. |
|
Science Day |
Three different science challenges involving sports drinks, chemical reactions, and flight. |
* Students will need a packed lunch on the day of their House trip (FSM students will be provided with one).
Next Steps
Please complete the consent form sent via email, by 9.00am on Monday 1 June, to allow your son/ward to participate in the relevant House Trip.

We look forward to a rewarding week. Normal school standards and expectations apply; any student not meeting these may be removed from Wider Learning Week activities to conduct work independently.
