Update - 10 June 2020
On 5 June, a
letter was sent to parents/carers of students in Years 7-9 with the following update about Remote Learning:
“From Monday 8 June, we are going to formally record positive and negative incidents on PARS which reflect the weekly submission or non-submission of evidence of work completed. Please do assist us in ensuring that your son/ward either submits items of completed work to Microsoft Teams/OneNote or shows engagement with and progress on another learning platform.
“Please also remember that students should be registering daily attendance on Teams by 11.00am each morning. This is being treated like a normal attendance mark. In addition, do continue to get your son/ward to engage in the House Assemblies which are posted weekly on the Pastoral Hub Team.
Secondly, we have just posted the latest Student Showcase update – highlighting some outstanding work from last week.

Update - 4 May 2020
As remote learning continues, we believe that it’s very important to highlight students that have been submitting outstanding work while at home. This could be work that is of outstanding quality, uses home resources in a unique way, or demonstrates great commitment to the visible consistencies that are so important in school.
Therefore, we’ve launched a brand Student Showcase, which you can find here. It’ll be updated every Monday with just some of the best work from the previous week!
Update - 22 April 2020
It is really important that, as we move into this next phase of learning from home, your son/ward(s) (and daughter/ward(s)) maintain their hard work so that when we do eventually return to school, they are in the best position to continue their educational progress.
As a parent/carer, please do not worry too much about “teaching” your children, rather focus your energies on: encouraging them to log on to Office 365, ensuring that routines are in place, and good habits of working at home are developed further.
Teachers are continuing to work really hard and will continue to distribute work on a daily basis using the school timetable. Every student should have work set each day matching the number of lessons on their timetable. Physical education and PSHE lessons are set in different formats. Students should start and finish work on the same day. Parents/carers can continue to view the work set via the Parent Portal and/or the INSIGHT App.
Students should:
- Log onto INSIGHT for all directed work
- Use Microsoft Teams for all communications
- Upload to Class Notebook evidence of work, when required by the teacher.
Feedback will be given through Microsoft Teams when and where appropriate. Some teachers may provide feedback via online posts during or after the lesson. Students must always use formal, courteous and professional language in their written posts.
Update - 3 April 2020
We are aware that the move to home learning will have been a challenge for many students as well as parents/carers. We cannot replicate a school experience from home but hope that you are managing to support us in our efforts to maintain education by keeping routines in place and by providing as much support as you can to your children. We do hope that it has not been too burdensome and that your son/daughter/ward has managed to keep up with the work.
Lessons will stop at lunchtime on Friday, the normal end-of-term for the school. It might well be the case that some students have work to complete during the break, especially some of the senior students with coursework deadlines still in place. The staff will be spending the afternoon in team meetings (online) discussing how the first two weeks have progressed and planning for the new term.
After Easter, we will move into the next phase of home learning. As student and staff skills improve, our teaching staff will be asked to increase their engagement with students, with some direct contact teaching (technology allowing) and by periodically collecting samples of work for feedback.
All contact with students will be undertaken through Microsoft Teams in order to ensure consistency of practice and online safety. Students will be sent an email with a link to training videos on YouTube. Please do note that staff will not be responding to individual student emails as this will not be manageable. There will be the opportunity for some contact through Microsoft Teams on the “chat” icon. There will also be a “helpline” within the class team.
Work will continue to be set through PARS, which students can access on the INSIGHT app and/or the Parent Portal. Different subject areas will provide material in different formats and students are encouraged to continue to do their very best in all of their learning. Self-discipline and self-regulation will remain important and we continue to ask parents/carers to support their children with their learning.
Update - 20 March 2020
As far as possible, education for all students will continue from Monday 23 March, via our electronic communication systems and learning platforms.
It is now the responsibility of parents/carers to lead the learning of our students from home and ensure that routines are followed. The teaching and support staff will provide educational material for your son/daughter/ward, but the provision can only continue if we all work together in these challenging times.
The expectation is that students will, as far as possible, follow the normal school timetable and the teaching staff will direct this work on a daily and or weekly basis.
