'Dracula' Performance Trip

In A level English literature, Year 13 students study a variety of texts across prose and poetry. To enhance this classroom learning, the staff team arranged for students to see a performance of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ at the local Boston Manor House. Given its foundational status in Gothic horror, as well as its creation of an archetype that continues to shape vampire lore in popular culture, ‘Dracula’ is a seminal work in the English canon.
Therefore, it was a fantastic opportunity to deepen the students’ classroom learning. The performance was superb, bringing the text to life and helping students understand different interpretations of the classic text. There was plenty of conversation on the way home, and there is no doubt that this will enhance students’ learning as they get closer to their public examinations next summer.
